MY STORY

A year after I quit that horrible job in San Francisco, I received a call from my doctor. I needed immediate surgery to remove an ovarian cyst the size of grapefruit. I thought the last two years leading up to that call could be erased but the body remembers. It knows the score. I began each morning with a large whole milk latte and promptly headed to the job I talked about earlier. To cope, I would indulge in a carb-filled lunch and wash it down with cocktails and wine in the evening. I didn’t know it then but my body was undergoing stress.

When one life stressor goes off it can have a domino effect and negatively impact various aspects of your well-being. My body was trying to give me signs but I continued to ignore them. I was suffering from stress, dehydration, and inflammation. And I didn't know it stemmed from my thoughts and daily lifestyle behaviors. I was in my own way.

About Me Continued

As a child, (pictured above) I loved to eat, especially cherry tomatoes. I still can’t walk by a cherry tomato bush from my mom's garden today without grabbing some. If I could do it under the sunshine and in my underwear, like I used to as a kid, I would. Inside my home wasn’t always as peaceful as outside in the vegetable garden. Our family's household rule growing up was all emotions were to be kept under wraps and not discussed.  So I learned to sweep my feelings under a rug. As humans, we tend to numb feelings or stress with food, drugs, screens, avoiding exercise, and all other methods to bring immediate relief.

We have all had times in our lives when we felt adrift. It can cause chronic stress. Those buried emotions have to go somewhere!  They typically show up in our lives as symptoms, suffering, or complexes. We gain weight, quit exercising, get in a fight with a partner, get sick, have a conflict at work, lose jobs, lose friendships, yell at our kids, or indulge in some of the “high-risk” behaviors such as food, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and screens. What changed for me? It has been a long list of trial and learn.

I have been to every holistic treatment provider: Rolfer, acupuncturist, palmist, reiki master, masseuse, chiropractor, psychotherapist, crystal healing mat, spectrum light therapy, and more.  If reading every self-help book at the local library sounds wildly unnecessary and exhausting it’s because it was. In the end, I wasn’t willing to let go of long-standing behaviors and thoughts that stood in my way from making real change. The constant cocktails and pizza with ranch, smoking, and emotionally toxic romantic relationships were symptoms of a larger problem. The web I weaved inside my mind and body needed to be untangled to progress forward. I needed to create new neural pathways in my brain and it wasn’t going to happen by reading a book or participating in a one-off treatment. I had to take responsibility and put MY goals into ACTION with a planned outcome and with an accountability partner for real change to begin. So, that's what I did. Holistic treatment AND Coaching were the secret sauce for me.

Today I take a collaborative approach with my clients and their treatment providers (if necessary). Together we will develop solutions that will point you in the direction of long-lasting health habits so unlike me, you don’t have to slog through it by yourself. You do this with small lifestyle changes so you can live a life that is not just an absence of illness but a life that is full. I believe bridging that gap from the person we are to the person we want to be, is possible for all of us.

As a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach and Functional Nutritional Counselor, the 1:1 or group sessions I offer are effective, personalized, client-focused, client-led, and tailored to your readiness to change.

I want everyone to go back to their equivalent of eating cherry tomatoes in their underwear outside in the sunshine. An integrated life filled with purpose, happiness, and not having to think about their health. Our health is foundational to our success as solopreneurs. I invite you to learn more about my business support offerings for female soloprenuerus on my website and our alternative health offerings at our shop, Lifetime Water & Wellness!

Meetings are offered online, by phone, or in-person at: 253 Unit A, S Hwy 101, Solana Beach, CA, 92075.
